Caption: | Lithuania, Vilnius: St. Stanislaw's Cathedral stands on the site ofnumerous predecessors going back to pre Christian times. The present classical building was completed in 1783 by L. Stuoka-Gucevicius. In soviet times it was used as a concert hall. The cathedral belltower, 52 metres high, plus 5 metres below ground level which date back to 13th century. The lowest visible stories (round) are 14th century, part of the old city wall. |
