PMR-D2693 Iran, Firuz Abad: Dezh-e Ardashir Papakan (Palace of Ardashir Papakan) was built in 224 AD under King Ardashir I in the Sassanian era. It has three domes (one collapsed), open at the top, which may have been used for fires to Zoroaster. One of three square halls with open domes. This may have been the first use of the "squinch" to support a round dome.
