PMR571-09 Namibia: Namib Naukluft National Park: a group of Welwitschia mirabilis plants on the "Welwitschia Trail". The plant is reputed to live to an age of 1500 years on occasions. Water is obtained from the morning coastal mists: there is almost no rain in Namibia. It may be likened to a tree whose trunk grows downwards from the surface.
