PMR091K-12 Macedonia, Skopje: devastated by an earthquake on 26th July 1963, the capital city has been largely rebuilt. Fortress Kale, overlooking the city, was first built in 536 after Roman Scupi was destroyed by an earthquake in 518 AD. The present fortifications date mainly from Ottoman times.
