Built under Caliph Al-Mustansir Billah (1226-1242), it provided lecture halls, library, refectory, baths, student accommodation, hospital with pharmacy, and mosque. The curriculum included Arabic, Theology, Astronomy, Mathematics, Pharmacy, Medicine, and especially, Koran studies.
