Opposite, the Fortress of St. Nicholas with (later) lighthouse, built 1464-7 for the protection of the harbour. The Colossus of Rhodes, erected 292 BC, may have stood astride this harbour entrance.

Here, Red Deer have come to a feeding point at the edge of the forest, behind the chapel.
